Esarunoto Emaa

FOUNDATION

The Project

Now that a mandate has been established with available land, how will Esarunoto Emaa efficiently seize the initiative to advance this project?

Terrawatu has agreed to assist Esarunoto Emaa with our first project in Mto Wa Mbu. Terrawatu, a non-governmental organisation, has accomplished many successful and related projects in Tanzania over ten years, in part, because of their strong procedures and experience. They have learned from the failings of others and through their own accomplishments in facilitating projects through communities their leaders and achieving results.

The partnership with Terrawatu gives Esarunoto Emaa’s committee of directors the opportunity to expand their initial success.  Esarunoto Emaa is a grass-roots committee made up of leaders from various Maasai regions. Unlike Terrawatu, it is still young and not a registered NGO entity. However, its board members individually possess broad experience in community development and cultural programming (see committee).

What is the schedule to achieve the Mto Wa Mbu Project?

Step 1: confirm school programming and required facilities to accommodate the next level of student numbers, allowing the classrooms to locate independent of the temporary church space.

Step 2: confirm accreditation path for the school and complete budget for the first facility phase.  Obtain support for facility construction and programming.

Step 3: confirm plan for traditional clinic and small shop (duka) for indigenous art made by community women.  Complete budget for facility upgrade.  Obtain support for second phase.

How is this effort supported from abroad?

Capital donations will be made through Terrawatu. They have proven ability to manage receipts and on-site construction budgets.

1) funds go to a legally recognised and secure entity (e.g. US-based Network for Good and bank), link.

2) funds go directly to a US registered charity (501(c)3) so donor obtains a tax deduction for their contribution;

3) the donor is kept informed through photos and other communication regarding the responsible use of their funds.

We are seeking support to build a community-based school and centre to formalise an existing pre-school program.
